LOTTE was founded in June 1948 and this year celebrates its 65th anniversary. The company name comes from the nickname of Charlotte, the heroine in the novel,The Sorrows of Young Werther, written by the great German literary figure Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. This name was used to represent the desire for the company to be loved by everyone.
LOTTE has now grown into a global organization group with over 50 companies in Japan, South Korea, and throughout Asia and America. It employs over 4,000 people and is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.
LOTTE DUTY FREE started on January 21, 1980 with its first downtown store in Seoul, South Korea. Since then, it has expanded and now operates four airport stores, five downtown stores, an online store, and in-flight duty free operations aboard Jeju Airlines. Outside of Korea, we have stores in Jakarta, Indonesia and Changi Airport, Singapore.
